Birding Adventures in Mara and the Rift Valley
- 7 Days
Day
01: Nairobi – Masai Mara
0900hrs: Depart for the Masai Mara Game Reserve, via the view
point of the Great Rift Valley and Narok town for lunch. On arrival
proceed for a game drive, tracking various animal species and
birds with your driver / guide. Dinner and overnight at the lodge
or campsite on Full Board Basis.

Day 02: Masai
Mara
After breakfast proceed on a full day of game viewing within the
reserve. The landscape here is scenic savannah grassland on rolling
hills. The reserve is the best park for game in Kenya as it has
an extensive road and track network which allows for close range
viewing and photography. Break for your picnic lunch at the hippo
pool, looking out for hippos and crocodile. Return to the lodge
or campsite after an afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight
at the lodge or campsite on Full Board Basis.
Day 03: Masai Mara
Breakfast followed by a morning game drive. The reserve is home
to numerous plains game including wildebeest, common zebra, Maasai
giraffe, various antelopes and bird life Lunch at the lodge or
campsite. In the afternoon you will opt between a game drive,
an escorted nature walk or a visit to a Maasai village at extra
cost. Dinner and overnight at the lodge or campsite on Full Board
Basis.
Day 04: Masai Mara – Lake Nakuru
National Park
Early morning pre-breakfast game drive. After breakfast depart for
Nakuru with superb views of the Great Rift scenery. After lunch
proceed on a game drive in Lake Nakuru Park, known for its prolific
bird life including flamingoes. The park contains a sanctuary for
the conservation of the white rhino while species like Cape buffalo
and waterbuck can be seen near the shoreline. Dinner and overnight
at the lodge or budget class hotel on Full Board Basis.

Day 05: Lake Nakuru
National Park - Amboseli National Park
After breakfast drive to Amboseli via Nairobi and with a brief
stop in Namanga for lunch. Arrive Amboseli National Park in time
for an evening sunset game viewing and as you chance seeing the
snow peaked Mt Kilimanjaro and other plains game. Dinner and overnight
at the lodge or budget class hotel on Full Board Basis.
Day 06: Amboseli National Park
A day of game drives in this park which contains swamp grounds
in which elephants and hippos bathe in abundance. A variety of
plains game, antelopes and birds can also be seen and Mt. Kilimanjaro
peak too if weather conditions permit. There will be a lunch and
leisure break in the mid afternoon. Dinner and overnight at the
lodge or budget class hotel on Full Board Basis.
Day 07: Amboseli National Park - Nairobi
After breakfast, proceed for your final game drive. Depart for Nairobi
with lunch en route. arriving in the evening.

Park and the Kenyan Coast - 10 days
Day 01: Nairobi
Arrival and pick up at JKIA and transfer to the hotel. If arrival
was by a night flight, we can organize a birding trip relaxation
after and lunch to either Nairobi National Park or other sites
within Nairobi area.

Day 02: Nairobi
– Tsavo West National Park
Leave for Kilaguni or Ngulia Safari Lodges in Tsavo West NP via
Mtito Gate after breakfast. Lunch and dinner at lodge. Afternoon
spent bird watching at Mzima springs and park’s open savannahs.
Day 03: Tsavo West National Park –
Chyulu Hills National Park
Leave for Chyulu Hills National Park after breakfast via Chyulu
Gate for forest and mountain grassland birds. Take a picnic lunch.
Return to lodge via Mashetani caves in Tsavo West National Park.
Day 04: Tsavo West National Park –
Mombasa
Arrive at hotel early for lunch. Afternoon birding at Fort Jesus
and Bamburi Nature Trail combined with sight seeing and photography.
Return hotel for dinner.
Day 05: Mombasa – Shimba Hills National
Reserve
Leave Mombasa after breakfast for lunch at Lodge/Campsite. Afternoon
birding in the reserve.
Day 06: Shimba Hills National Reserve
Full day birding at the reserve, and visiting interesting areas
in south coast e.g. Dian Forest for additional birding.
Day 07: Shimba Hills National Reserve - Malindi
Leave for Malindi or Watamu in north coast after breakfast with
a stop at Mombasa for lunch. Arrive Malindi late afternoon to relax
and for dinner.
Day 08: Malindi
and Environs
Leave for Arabuko-Sokoke Forest for bird watching accompanied
by our guide as well as local community guides. Lunch at Turtle
Bay Hotel and relaxation at the hotel’s beach. Additional
birding at Gene Ruins National Monument entire afternoon. Dinner
at booked hotel.
Day 09: Malindi and Environs - Mombasa
Leave for Sabaki River Mouth for waders watching. Return to hotel
for lunch. Leave for Mida Creek after lunch returning through
Lake Chem Chem before traveling to Mombasa for an overnight stop
en-route Nairobi.
Day 10: Mombasa
– Nairobi.
Travel Nairobi after breakfast. Stop at JKIA to catch up your
flight back home or to your hotel for overnight.
